Newham Poetry Group
Newham Poetry Group, a grassroots initiative that has been working with Newham's community since January 2016.
It is a volunteer led not for profit community group, made up of proactive residents who believe that poetry and creative writing should be accessible to all.
The aim of the group is to act as an organisation that promotes poetry as a tool for self-development, social cohesion and academic support.
Our Programs include: Summer Poetry Schools, Poetry exhibitions, weekly poetry sessions around Stratford Library, Green Street, Manor Park and Eastham library.
We are the founders and organiser of The Newham Poetry House:
This project is part of the mission to open the Stratford Park Old Pavilion to the community. The project was chosen as a priority in the 2019 Citizens’ Assembly.
It is a weekly creative space with poetry Workshops, poetry readings, performances, open mic, spoken, book swap word and much more.
